Celebrating the Champs!

One of our favorite things of the #lakehouse is gathering friends around food and laughter. 💓 This weekend it included some fishing peeps celebrating the big wins for Caleb and Nick last weekend. I cooked the Chicken, Sausage and Shrimp gumbo this time (D was shocked that it was so good... Gumbo is usually his thing but he was enjoying time with his friends). Of course rice, warm potato salad, and some appetizers were there. Always remember that Nothing has to be perfect, I literally forgot a side in the oven til after lunch (the sweet potatoes) and the WHITE CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING finished baking nearly an hour after we finished eating . Those things tend to happen when I host. I'll get it together eventually but what matters most is the fellowship, fun and Farkel. I lost badly at Farkel but I'll blame it on the pain meds for my gimp thumb. And, as if the classic birth wasn't enough, Caleb also had to win at that game too.

I so love how D wanted to honor his friends that had success. So many times in the game of life and in competitive arenas, we dont see that kind of love and encouragement. I've experienced it so much in my business and I love that he wanted to have them over. Caleb is heading to the Classic (BIG, BIG deal) and Nick is headed to the All American. Even when you don't reach your greatest goal, it doesn't mean you can't feel joy and happiness for those around you that did. When D competed in Tennessee at Bassfest and finished in the top 15, some of his friends had a crab boil to celebrate him upon getting home. Perhaps that feeling of support and love from your friends made such an impact on him that he wants to do the same. It made my heart happy to see him cheering his friends on where he wishes to be.

I think we can all think of someone in our lives that is celebrating a victory and we can reach out to them to celebrate with them. I often say our friends are not revealed in times of adversity but in time of great victory. You will see who is rooting for your rise. True friends want the best things to happen in your life. They are okay and even celebrate when your success brings you to a level they have never achieved themselves.
