THIS WAS A CRAZY BUSY 10 DAYS with the Classic. While our schedules were insane, we want to share our favorites around Guntersville:
1) YOU KNOW I"M STARTING WITH THE THAI FOOD! Yes, this quaint little town has an EXCELLENT Thai Restaurant. Thai Basil has some incredible dishes. One of my favorite Thai dishes is Spicy Basil Leaves and this little place has HANDS DOWN the best version of it of all Thai restaurants I have ever tried. SOO DELISH!
2) BBQ - Our favorite BBQ in Guntersville is Moe's. A place that actually has smoked chicken on the bone! It's hard to find these days. D loves their dry-rubbed smoked wings. There BBQ Nachos are pretty legit too, I just have to ask them to hold the raw onions... One of the reasons we really love this joint is great parking for truck and boat AND the SIDE DISHES! Please for everything good and gold, get the cornbread, oh and the Mac and Cheese, and also the sweetpotatoes, oh and the greens. Every day they have a variety of 3-5 sides that are soooo incredible. And be sure to ask for their white bbq sauce too. Each time we roll into Guntersville, this is our first stop on the way to our accommodations.
3) Where to Stay: I have a few reviews here bc we had family at different places.
The Hampton Inn is by far the best hotel accommodations. A great, free breakfast, a beautiful lobby area with great wifi for working, and clean rooms. Only downside... no pets. Boat parking available and next door to Oyster House and near Publix and within 5 minutes of the launch. Other family members rented homes at the River Rocks Plantation. Beautiful new construction with modern interiors. Perfect for families and across the street from the boat launch. Downside... boats aren't able to be parked at the home which is why we stayed elsewhere.
4) BARBER SHOP downtown is GREAT! Old school offering great laughs and great cuts.
5) NAIL SHOP: YES!!!! Found one that was great - NAIL TEK on Gunters Ave. The one downtown says on their window that they welcome Walk-ins--- NOPE.... after navigating that horrid parking situation, I was turned away at the door, lol. Nail Tek has better parking for larger vehicles and did an excellent job.
6) HAIR - It's always scary to get your hair cut and colored on the road. SOOOO SCARY for LADIES.. but after 5 weeks on the road, I had no other choice. After searching IG pics of local hairdresser, I found one that actually had posted experience with auburn and red hair. I figured that was my best chance. She worked me in the following week - IMPRESSIVE--- and did an EXCELLENT JOB!!! Her salon is in Albertville - The House of Hair. Her name is Jessica.
Alrighty, there's your Guntersville Recap! Next Stop - Lake Martin in Alabama!
